Good Hotel, Rubbish Breakfast

We used the hotel the night before our cruise. The receptionist was excellent, the room was clean and adequate and we were pre warned that there was a party on but it finished at 11.00pm and it was not a problem. We parked our car for 8 nights in the hotel carpark which was perfect. The taxi ride to the ship and back was about £9.00. The only reason for a 3* rating is the breakfast, it was below par and expensive, my recommendation would be to use TFI Friday, McDonalds or John Lewis for a cheaper option, all within easy walking distance. Other than the breakfast, this was a good stay.

More 3* accommodation than 4.

Travelling for work (I had also brought my partner and dog with me so they could enjoy Southampton whilst I was working). The room allocated had decore from the 80s but looked clean, however the separate toilet smelt unsanitary, the bathroom extractor didn't work and the shower sprayed all over the floor. Reception were good and offered to fix the extractor. Our TV remote didn't work, the WiFi was too weak for me to work so i had to work elsewhere. I also couldn't sleep due to an intermittent humming noise that repeated 24hrs a day. Next time we will stay at Ibis next door.

Two night stay for the weekend. Picked the more expensive Novotel over budget hotels due to previous pleasant experiences. I have to say the location was fine, reception and bar ok and staff very nice. BUT, and it's a big but when you're paying £170 per night, the room was awful! Artex and wallpaper on the walls and ceilings, a separate toilet of the type I've honestly not seen since the early eighties. Terrible wall art, tired furniture, shower over bath with a wholly inadequate screen. Bathroom also old fashioned although not as bad as the toilet. Obvious hygiene issues with the separate toilet, three doors need to be opened just to get to the bathroom to wash your hands. Added to the very dated decor, furniture and fixtures we also had the following issues: Unusable WiFi, signal too weak. Smelly toilet. Both bathroom and toilet extractor fans didn't work. TV remote didn't work. Machinery noise in room. Will think twice before booking a novotel again, I dare say the cheaper ibis next door would have been way more luxurious and functional.

An amazing one night stay here pre cruise. Accommodation was comfortable and relaxing. Newly refurbished it seemed to be. The bar meal was piping hot, tasteful and well priced. Front of house Joyce was the right person in the right place and her welcome and pleasant attitude set the scene for an amazing one night stay. Highly recommend staying here

Was here for a training event and it was a great spot, big shout out to Colin who was so lovely and went over and above for us, he is a true gentleman, if you are staying here make sure to say hello to him. The food provided was great too especially the kale coleslaw
